I loved the beautiful enchanted magical colors of the doll itself , the doll reminds me of a Fairy tale with a magical fairy. The outfit was beautiful and the size was perfect.  This is novelty idea using the concept of combining dolls with matching animals.  On this particular doll, I did not like the fuzz on the vest and peacock's hair because it comes off easily.  I recommended this doll to all of my friends. Great toy!

I am so happy that I chose this doll for my 7 year old. She loves "barbies" and "Littlest petshops". So THIS Enchantimals was the best if both worlds for us!!! Is had held up very well so far. Beautiful doll! Well made and great gift for my 5 year old's birthday. She looks like a queen and the crown stays in place. I like the animal theme instead of monster high. Each girl has a back story and it's a great way to introduce different type of animals to her. She now know a peacock is not just a bird. Definitely going to add to the collection

A adorable idea.

I've never heard of Enchantimals until I received a notice in an email from Mattel. I haven't even seen it among the hundreds of dolls littering the toy section. Perhaps it's due to the marketing and story for other similar fantasy dolls that are somewhat over powering. Enchantimals would have to work hard to stand out. $8.99 is a decent price point, but for $2 more I could get a Barbie, Ever After High or Hasbro doll. Colorful anthropomorphic dolls aren't going to cut it these days. To be honest, I almost mistook the lineup (based on images online) for a mini spin off of Monster High dolls. Nevertheless, my niece, Chloe, was enchanted by this particular doll, Patter, when shown an image of her.

The packaging is simple and fairly easy to open. Chloe was slightly disappointed by the illustration on the back, the doll doesn't look as pretty as her illustrated counterpart. The bodice on the actual doll was poorly detailed, which is unfortunate considering the doll's lovely face. I was thrown off by the ridiculous name for the doll and her companion. (Later I discovered she's not the only one to be sporting a dull moniker. Daniella was more favorable.) Let's be real here. These are supposed to be fantastical girls, can they at least get fantastical or logical names? What kind of name is Patter? Despite Patter's petite size, Chloe was taken by her new "fairy Barbie" and her owl friend. When I explained that Patter was supposed to be a peacock, Chloe easily accepted Patter's new identity, thankful she had wings to fly. Dressing the doll was sort of a challenge so Chloe gave up on that and settled for a room assignment in her dollhouse. The whole exchange lasted less than 10 minutes.

Patter and Flap are cute, but their looks can only get them so far with tech-driven children these days. Chloe got bored by Patter's lack of auditory capabilities, instead opting to watch the magical girls from Glitter Force on her tablet. The short description on the packaging is not enough to build a story for the doll. It is understandable there is a website and other digital content to complement the toy line. Chloe finally regained interest after I showed her the Enchantimals videos. The characters have personality and are surprisingly relatable. Patter can't sing; Chloe is weirdly happy about that because she can't sing well either. For once, a pretty royal isn't a perfect singer, and her friend is an engineer who tinkers a sandwich making machine. Once she delved into the background of animated Patter and her friends, she got excited to play. 9 minutes went by of Chloe playing with "mommy and daughter" Patter and her red My Little Pony doll (now dubbed Fox post-Enchantimal video). However, 2 minute videos aren't enough to hold a toy line and a child's interest. Where's a movie? Where's a longer show?

There is opportunity for the Enchantimals line, which could be explored by expanding interactive digital content on easily accessible platforms. YouTube is not where this target audience and market is. These are tech savvy children who know how to get into Mom or Dad's streaming app. Consider alternative streaming services, such as Netflix kids or Amazon kids. The animation is a good introduction to the toy line. Build a world from there. Perhaps pair the dolls (offer a digital component or attachment) with the animation so they too can go on adventures. Set up a scavenger hunt, mini-challenges, something to get these kid users and their dolls involved with the animation and stay hooked. Without digital content or a unique benefit, Patter Patter is almost forgettable and most likely will drown in a sea of sameness of pretty fantasy animal dolls.
